IBM has announced the transfer of its software package Accessibility Tools Framework (ACTF) in gift Eclipse Foundation – community of software developers with open-source (OpenSource), which aims at the development of established their universal custom tools to facilitate and improve the efficiency of the development and deployment software. "We are very pleased to entrust the future of IBM ACTF community development platform Eclipse, – commented on Mike Milinkovich IBM (Mike Milinkovich), executive director of the Eclipse Foundation. – "This initiative is yet another convincing proof of the fact that many companies successfully managed the development of their programs through open source projects Eclipse . Accessibility Tools Framework is a set of software tools and the "building blocks" that developed IBM. Use this basic infrastructure, Developers can easily and efficiently create software tools that provide accessibility for the disabled and people with disabilities, as developers no longer need to spend time building applications from scratch. With the help of reusable components ACTF and standardized API-interfaces provided by this basic infrastructure, developers can quickly create tools for availability of technologies, such as means testing applications for compliance with accessibility requirements, functions, visualization, and alternative user interfaces for people with disabilities. All of these tools will be integrated into a single full-featured development environment to support access to technology, built on the platform of Eclipse. In the ACTF is support for HTML-content, open document format OpenDocument Format (ODF), technology, Flash, graphical user interfaces for applications Java (including Java Swing and Eclipse SWT), the specialized API-interfaces (such as Microsoft Active Accessibility (MSAA) and IAccessible2) – in order to ensure uniform, from the point view of users, availability of Web content and applications. Thus, through the collective efforts of the community to further optimize the platform, ACTF will quickly and effectively integrate new products and initiatives in the area of "availability" software and IT services, helping developers in the era of Web 2.0 to respond quickly to changes in technical requirements and the latest technology trends in this direction.
